After Incorporation, Company can change its name and there are various reasons of change in names including change of objective of the business; change of management, rebranding etc. So name can be change at any time with the approval of the Shareholders and by following procedure stated in the Act. Companies Act, 2013 deals with change of name, which state that Name can be altered by passing of special resolution and with the approval of Central Government. Company shall not take the name which is identical with or resemble too nearly to the name of existing company registered under this act or any pervious law or name which will constitute an offence under any law for the time being in force or name which is undesirable in the opinion of the Central Government.The change of name shall not be allowed to a company which has not filed annual returns or financial statements due for filing with the Registrar or which has failed to pay or repay matured deposits or debentures or interest thereon.

Effect of change in name of Company
The change of name shall not affect any rights or obligations of the company, or render defective any legal proceedings by or against it. In spite of a change in name the entity of the company continues. The company is not dissolved nor does any new company come into existence. By change of name, the constitution of the company is not changed, only the name changes.
